A lot of people feel nervous before their first session. I have had counselling and understand that you may be worried about opening up to a stranger. You might wonder whether counselling will work; whether you really need counselling or feel worried about being embarrassed.

I will do my best to make you feel comfortable in your sessions and will listen to you without judgement. 

Your first session will be the same whether it is face to face or online. I will explain how I work and give you some information about what your sessions would be like.  I will also carry out an initial assessment to help me to understand how your problems are impacting on you. 

I will ask you to tell me briefly about what has brought you to counselling. There is no right way to do this. You can go at your own pace and start wherever feels comfortable for you. I will listen and check to make sure that I have fully understood. 


We will discuss what it is that you want to get from your counselling sessions and how I can help you achieve this.

If you decide that you would like to work with me we will enter into a counselling agreement and book your next session.
